In America, we often see goats in petting zoos, but in other countries, a goat may represent a sustainable food supply. ServingHIM specifically selects pregnant goats to ensure families receive more than one goat. Families are taught how to care for the goat and how to utilize it for milk and cheese. Goats work well in impoverished areas because they will eat the local vegetation, making it affordable to care for the goat. Each family gives the first female goat born back to the church for other families. This is a tangible example of the biblical example of giving back the “firstfruits,” a symbol of gratitude and trust in God’s provision.
